At Fagertun Trygt og Trivelig AS, a nursing home in Norway, YetiCare has become a natural part of daily life, fostering moments of active participation. By combining inclusive technology with meaningful activities, residents experience an increased sense of accomplishment, social interaction, and joy.
Nurse and manager Anne-Hilde Seigerud works closely with the residents at Fagertun. When they chose to invest in a YetiCare solution, the goal was to create a more diverse range of activities for their resident group, ranging from ages 40 to 90.
— We purchased Yetitablet because we recognised the need for new activities. Many of our residents are already familiar with technology, and they know how to use it, Seigerud explains.
Inclusive technology that Encourages Participation
YetiCare is more than just a large touch-screen; it is a comprehensive solution developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals to encourage cognitive, physical, and social engagement. At Fagertun, the solution has quickly transitioned from a new tool to a natural part of everyday life, even among the oldest residents.
— The content is very user-friendly. We have residents over the age of 90 who use it regularly and find great joy in it, says Seigerud.
Cultivating social connection and new skills
One of the primary goals of YetiCare is to break down barriers and replace passivity with active engagement. At Fagertun, this solution is utilised for brain exercises, games, music, and various content that fosters interaction. It supports both group interactions and individual activities.
— We find YetiCare to be a valuable addition to our activities. It is used a lot in interaction between staff and residents, as well as by residents on their own, after receiving a bit of guidance to get started, Seigerud states.
For some, the solution has also become a gateway to increased social activity. Residents who typically have limited interaction with others have shown significant interest and enjoyment in using Yetitablet, especially when engaging with staff.
“We find that residents surprise us by mastering activities and demonstrating skills that we might not have noticed otherwise. This is particularly true with brain teasers such as word games, puzzles and card games.”

Discovering hidden talents through cognitive stimulation
Seigerud highlights YetiHockey as an example of an activity that has been particularly popular. Physical games like YetiHockey can stimulate motor skills and social play. In addition to competitive games, several cognitive applications are also used regularly at Fagertun. One of the most used cognitive applications is the YetiBrain Games collection, which has provided surprising insights into resident capabilities.
— We find that residents surprise us by mastering activities and demonstrating skills that we might not have noticed otherwise. This is particularly true with brain teasers such as word games, puzzles and card games, Seigerud shares.
For some people, time goes by incredibly quickly once they get started.
— Some residents can spend several hours with the Yetitablet. It shows that they enjoy the activities, she continues.
Creating Atmosphere and Stimulating Reminiscence
At Fagertun, the staff also use YetiCare to find content that creates recognition and conversation. They play music, show videos, and find pictures of places residents remember from earlier phases in their lives.
— We frequently use the tablet’s features to find video content that residents enjoy. We also use videos of a fireplace accompanied by soft music, or other content that reflects the season, Seigerud explains. The large screen allows staff to create a calming and dignified atmosphere.

YetiCare’s contents can be integrated into daily life at Fagertun in several ways:
- Games and Competition: YetiHockey is one of the favourites among residents. It can promote both motor activity and social interaction.
- Cognitive Stimulation: Activities like YetiBrainGames offer brain exercises and puzzles that challenge residents, providing opportunities for achievement and showcasing hidden skills.
- Meaningful Memories and Conversation: Staff can find music, photos, and videos that evoke recognition and encourage meaningful discussions about residents’ past experiences.

Success Built on Staff Motivation
The staff at Fagertun Trygt og Trivelig quickly established clear routines to ensure that the technology is used actively and remains accessible by moving the mobile solution between the different units. Seigerud shares that successful implementation at Fagertun was driven by involving employees from the very beginning.
— It is important that everyone is motivated to promote the use of the technology. We had a few rounds of internal training at the beginning, which was vital for implementing this in everyday life, she emphasises.
Seigerud recommends the solution to others. She particularly highlights the ability to customise activities to the individual residents.
— YetiCare offers activities for all levels that can be adapted to each user’s physical and cognitive function. Staff can assist residents in finding suitable activities, ensuring they can cope and have a positive experience, she concludes.
